Let me break this down in terms anyone can understand:
Picture your foot as a precision alignment system.
Your toes are designed to work together to distribute weight. Easy, when everything is in its proper place.
But when your big toe starts drifting toward your second toe? That's where the bunion comes in.
Your big toe joint, specifically the first metatarsophalangeal joint, is designed to anchor your foot's alignment with every step, distributing weight smoothly across the forefoot. Podiatrists call this the "MTP joint" or the "foot anchor."
When functioning properly, this joint absorbs 40-50% of your forefoot load, more weight than any other part of your foot.
But YOUR big toe joint? It's drifted. Crooked. Out of alignment.
You walk in shoes? PRESSURE PUSHES. The toe drifts further.
You stand for hours? PRESSURE PUSHES. The joint sticks out more.
You sleep with your foot in a tight position? PRESSURE PUSHES. The bunion grows.
There's no problem with how often you exercise. No problem with how often you stretch. Just a joint that's slowly drifted out of position after decades of footwear pressure plus genetics.
Here's what the science now says:
1. Your big toe joint is designed to anchor 40-50% of your forefoot weight load.
When this joint drifts out of alignment, weight loads wrong, the joint sticks out more, and pressure builds. That's a worsening bunion.
2. NSAIDs and cortisone shots don't fix the alignment, they just temporarily mask the pain.
Painkillers force your nerves to ignore the inflammation. But if your joint is still drifting, the bunion keeps progressing while you're numbed to it. And you're destroying your stomach lining in the process.
3. Cheap rigid bunion splints squeeze the toe, but don't gradually realign the joint.
They apply forced static pressure to push the toe straight. But they're uncomfortable, cut off circulation at the joint, rub your skin raw, and the moment you take them off, the toe drifts right back to where it was within 2-3 hours because your joint hasn't actually adapted.

Has anyone tried this yet?

I did! I was so skeptical after wasting money on so many "solutions," but after 3 weeks my big toe is visibly straighter and the constant rubbing in my shoes is gone. I actually made it through my grandson's soccer game last Saturday, walked from the parking lot and stood there the full 90 minutes. I cried in the car after because I didn't think that was possible anymore.

I've spent $30,000+ over the years on bunion stuff: podiatrists, orthotics, splints, cortisone shots, even consultations for surgery. This brace was like $50. I'm angry nobody told me about something this simple sooner

Hey Monica, I received mine after a week. Used it that same night (30 minutes while watching TV).

My wife has had bunions for 22 years. She's tried everything. I ordered this for her honestly not expecting much. But she cried last week because for three mornings in a row, her shoes fit on the first try, for the first time in years.

Hey Christina, you need something like this instead of overpriced treatments

Wow that's really interesting, I just ordered one. Can't keep paying hundreds of dollars every month for something that barely works

Have you bought one, how long does it take to get to you?

For me, 7 working days. Worth every day of waiting.

My daughter sent me the article about Dr. Carter and the Ornexis Bunion Fix. I thought it was too good to be true. 4 weeks later and I hosted Thanksgiving dinner for the first time in 6 years, no hiding my feet under the table, no slipping out of my shoes during dinner, no dreading standing up after sitting. I'm still kind of in shock.

Has anyone here been on daily NSAIDs for years (Aleve or Advil)? Did this actually help you rely on them less?

I've been taking daily Aleve for 18 years and I've been scared of what it's doing to my stomach and kidneys, especially at my age (61). After about 5 weeks using the brace each evening, I've had so much less bunion pain and I've been able to cut back some (working with my doctor). I honestly wish I found this years ago.
